Winter Illness

Hello friends,

I’ve been sick all week.

One member of my household is an essential worker, and got quite sick on Monday. We thought it was Covid-19, and prepped the household for grave illness, including isolating our most at risk person as best we could.

By Wednesday, I was sick as well.

We both got tested, for which I thanked the suited up med tech three times. It turns out that even in the midst of a pandemic, and isolating, and wearing masks, and all the rest… there’s still the flu to contend with. So here I am, wishing you good health. I’m still recovering, myself, and have spent most of today in bed, yet again, drinking tea and all the rest.

Here’s a photo I took before I went down: a simple offering of popcorn and cranberries, strung in bare winter branches. Even in hardship, I love that people find a way to care for beings other than ourselves. I hope you are offering what care you can, and getting the care you need.

Meanwhile, my amazing Patreon supporters funded another short story! This is set in the Witches of Portland world, and takes place on Solstice Eve…

So, thank you, patrons! And the rest of you? I hope you enjoy The Gift of Holly.
