What Do You Need?
let's think about it
Hello friends,
This morning, after meditation, I pulled a rune. What turned up was Nauthiz, or Need.
The Eddas tell us: Need is oppressive to the heart; yet often it proves a source of help and salvation to the children of men, to everyone who heeds it betimes.
My brain is cooking up a longer essay on the topic of need and these times, but it felt useful to start thinking about it, today.
Need can be construed as lack or constraint. But it is also a useful reminder to ask ourselves “what is necessary?”
That’s one of the larger lessons of this time, I think—many of us are asking this question, whether out loud or in our struggles and dreams—it’s the thing my consciousness is circling around.
But for now, I’m asking myself the simple questions, What do I need? What feels necessary right now?
And I thought I’d ask you the same.
So, will you pause a moment and ask yourself: What do I need? And what is one way to fulfill that need?
Let’s keep it simple, lest we become overwhelmed. Just for today, let us focus on answering the question of what we need. Not a big, cosmic, need. Not a larger, societal need.
Something small. Something basic. Something personal. Something necessary.
Wishing you blessings, and thanks for reading. I look forward to reading your answers, if you’d care to share.

Speaking of need, if you cannot afford the price of a book right now, until 8pm pacific Sunday, Nov 29, if you send me an email to thorncoyle at gmail.com, I’ll send you an ebook file of Book One of either The Panther Chronicles or The Witches of Portland. It’s one small thing I can offer.
