The World's a Mess

its in my kiss

Hello friends,

Here we are, floating in space on what Sagan called the Pale Blue Dot, and what Fuller called Spaceship Earth. We’re floating together. I hope that gives you some comfort. It does me.

Fires. Hurricanes. Floods. Famine. War. Disease. Upheaval. Poverty.

It’s all taking a toll, isn’t it? On our psyches, our health, our communities…

Our sense of well being.

I’ve been reading a lot lately. And watching films. And Ted Lasso. I’m so grateful for the stories. I’ve always been grateful for the stories. I often say that books saved my life. That was true in my childhood and it feels true, now, even as I’m writing them. Story transports me to the world I want to live in. Story gives me hope.

screen reader. highlighted quote reads Sometimes the community we need is right in front of us.

The quote I used for this week’s title comes from X, a favorite band from my youth. They wrote that when we were still poised on the brink of nuclear war, and we were starting to yell more loudly about the climate disaster we now live in.

Here we are, still fighting to help one another. And that’s the other thing that saves me: remembering all the people out there, offering help to one another, and creating beauty together.

People like you.

Thank you friends. I hope you are doing as well as possible right now.

Thanks for being here. Thanks for reading, and creating, and helping, and just existing.

Wishing you well.
