Hoping You are Well

on gratitude and pain

Hello friends,

I hope you are well, this week.

I hope you have weathered the storms and have come out the other side, still breathing. And if you’re struggling this week? I hope you have support to help you.

I’m also wishing you moments of peace and joy.

This morning—despite ill sleep—I caught a glimpse of the full moon before it set.

ferns on a fir branch

And yesterday, while climbing the dormant cinder cone volcano, I paused to watch a row of ferns, growing high on the branch of a Douglas fir. The large branch grew out sideways. The ferns were waving in the wind.

I want to share that moment with you. Close your eyes, and inhale. Imagine the sound and feel of cold wind, rushing past you, through tall trees. And imagine a row of green, frondy plants, who have rooted themselves in the moss and bark of a towering giant, waving and dancing.

Be at peace, just for a moment.
